So much information!

In today’s society, there are so many informative voices, gushing out information, and vying for our attention. We can get used to the constant noise, and even begin to feel uncomfortable on the rare occasion silence creeps in. It’s easy to turn on music, or the TV, or pick up a device and start scrolling to fill any pause in the influx of information.

What Does God’s Word Say about This Thirst for Information?

The book of Proverbs in the Bible actually encourages us, over and over, to seek knowledge. The craving for knowledge, understanding, and wisdom are all God given desires. They are longings that He is happy to fill!

James 1:5 says, If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” This tells us that God is not sitting in heaven ready to cast judgment on anyone who comes to Him saying, “God, I need wisdom.” Rather, He is excited that person asked, and ready to give them wisdom... generously!

Look in the Right Place

As we pursue knowledge and look for wisdom in life, let’s be sure that we are looking in the right places. Information is abundant. How to sift through all of it and find what is valuable is a skill we all need.

Proverbs 2:6 says, “The Lord gives wisdom, and knowledge and understanding come from His mouth.”

At Gift Stronger, we believe the Bible to be the inerrant word of God. It is essentially our Creator’s guide to life. There are stories of successes, failures, and so much essential wisdom for life, for relationships, and for everything that matters.

2 Easy Steps

There are 2 easy steps we can all take today to help us sort through and find the information that matters in life.

  1. Ask God to fill us with His Holy Spirit and give us wisdom.

Right before Jesus left earth, He said, “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—  the Spirit of truth... you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you... the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:16-17a,c,26b

  2. Begin to fill our lives with God’s word.

This will look different for different people. The important thing is to start keeping God's word going into your eyes and ears
